What Is the Florida ESA / PEP Program?
Florida runs four scholarship programmes that families often call “ESA”. The one most relevant to homeschool families is the Personalized Education Program (PEP), part of the Family Empowerment Scholarship run by Step Up for Students. PEP awards are roughly $8,000 per child per year and can be spent on approved curriculum, lessons, and educational materials.
The other programmes are FES-EO (Family Empowerment Scholarship — Educational Options, for students attending an approved private school), FES-UA (Family Empowerment Scholarship — Unique Abilities, for students aged 3–22 with qualifying disabilities and highly flexible spending), and the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship (FTC) for income-based private school students.
All programmes are managed through Step Up for Students or the AAA Scholarship Foundation, and once funded you spend through portals like MyScholarShop or direct purchasing options. Mysteries in Time is not currently an approved Florida vendor, but we’re working through the approval process and will let waitlist families know the moment that changes.
