Morse Code for Kids

Morse Code is a signalling system used to send coded messages. It works by using a series of taps or signals to represent the letters of the Latin alphabet. By listening to these taps, a person receiving the message can work out the letters and understand what is being said.

History Facts!

πŸ“‘ The Invention of Morse Code

Morse Code was developed by Samuel Morse, one of the inventors of the telegraph, during the 1830s and 1840s. Over time, improved versions of the system were created, and it soon began to be used by national armies to send messages across long distances.

The War Effort!

🚒 Morse Code in the Battle of Britain

During the Second World War, Morse Code played an important role in the Battle of Britain. British warships and merchant ships needed a way to communicate secretly with each other while travelling across the North Atlantic Ocean. This was important because German U-Boats were trying to intercept messages to find out where merchant convoys were sailing as they carried supplies to England, Scotland and Wales.
