💀 Aztecs Day of the Dead for Kids
The Aztecs Day of the Dead for kids is a fascinating topic that helps us understand how the Aztecs remembered and honoured people who had died. This tradition comes from the beliefs of the ancient Aztec civilisation and is still celebrated today in a festival called Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos.
🏛️ What Did the Aztecs Believe About Death?
The Aztecs believed that death was a natural part of life, not something to be feared. They thought that when people died, their souls travelled to different places depending on how they died, rather than whether they were "good" or "bad".
For example, people who died in battle or were connected to the sun were believed to join the sun god Huitzilopochtli. Others travelled to a place called Mictlan, the underworld, where most souls went after death.
